The ‘High Season’ is in full flight and there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day which means typically things like exercise and healthy living go by the wayside and become less of a priority. However this is the time that we need it the most, not only to feel healthy and strong in our bodies but to feel healthy and strong in our minds too. There are at least 10 reasons why it is important to continue our healthy lifestyle during these crazy months.
- When you exercise you release feel good hormones which leave you feeling happy, energised and ready to tackle anything the day has to throw at you.
- Exercise also helps with relaxation and improves sleep quality. A great night sleep means you can wake up feeling fresh and revitalised.
- Increases your fitness and builds muscle, giving you the stamina you need to last the day or night whilst feeling stronger in the process.
- It helps with stress, anxiety and other mental health challenges allowing you to cope better with those days that just don’t go to plan.
- It allows you to rest your mind and focus on yourself even just for an hour. A great distraction from what is or isn’t going on at work.
- Maintains your fitness and helps you stay in shape. No one wants to start all over again when the season is finished.
- Exercising regularly strengthens the heart, improves circulation, lowers the risk of heart diseases such as high cholesterol, heart attacks and coronary heart diseases. These reasons speak for themselves.
- Allows you to have a bit of fun without having to plan something for yourself and no matter how busy we are we can all find 1 HOUR……no exuses!
- Eating a healthy balanced meal will fuel the body and decrease the risk of falling ill due to low imunity and poor nutrition.
- Will help you manage your weight. This is the season when we can give into temptation. A G&T at the beach bar after a tough day, having a quick pizza on the way home, cooling off with an ice cream with the kids, sampling the treats the Algarve has to offer with the droves of guests that come through our doors. Surely this is the time that you need us most to keep you on track or help you burn off those extra naughty calories.
Even though it is busy and the focus is on servicing those around us, it is important to remember for us to do this successfully we must take care of ourselves.
